RIR was founded in 2013 and provides a welcoming on-campus community that supports and celebrates recovery while fostering academic success. It is based on the belief that students should not have to choose between recovering from addiction and a college education. The program supports VCU students (both undergrad and grad), parents and family members (through outreach programs), and college applicants.
