Music
At the Church of the Holy Comforter, we believe that to sing is to pray twice, and we do it with energy and joy. The rich and vast trove of music that enriches our worship includes hymns from The Hymnal 1982, Lift Every Voice and Sing II, and Wonder Love and Praise, supplemented by Anglican chant, world music, spirituals, gospel, musicals, Taizé chants, and jazz. In addition to the talented choir, other musicians from the congregation and beyond regularly share their gifts in worship. Guitars, violins, a mandolin, steel pan, percussion, horns, and other instruments lift our praises to God, who delights in our offerings.
Holy Comforter’s church building is an acoustically rich space for music. Among the groups that regularly offer performances here are:
Richmond Allied Voices will offer a concert in May of 2026

Our choir meets at 9:00am to rehearse for our 10:00am worship service.
The bell choir (fondly referred to as The Randome Ringeres Belle Choire), led by Melisse Menchel, plays a set of 3 octave bells several times per year. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings, except during the summer.
