Visitor FAQ

What time does the service at Holy Comforter begin?

We begin each Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

What is your address?

We are located at the intersection of Staples Mill Road and Monument Avenue. Our address is 4819 Monument Avenue, not far from the Willow Lawn Shopping Center.

What is your web address?

We can be found on the web at www.hoco.org.

What should I wear?

You are encouraged to wear what you would be comfortable wearing. Whether dressed down or dressed up, you are welcome.

Is child care available?

We have an area at the back of the church with rugs and soft toys where kids can hang out with a parent or older sibling during the service. We have a children’s sermon every Sunday. On many Sundays, children are invited to go to the side chapel with a church leader to work on a craft or other project. Children return to the church for communion with their families.

What if I'm not an Episcopalian?

Our doors and our ministries are open to everyone. A good percentage of our parishioners came to The Episcopal Church from other traditions. We hope that you will find Holy Comforter to be welcoming, no matter your background.

I am a Christian, but not Episcopalian. Can I take communion?

Absolutely. We have communion each Sunday and at 12:15 on Wednesdays.

How long does the service last?

The service is typically an hour and a quarter - sometimes a little shorter, sometimes a little longer. We have a reception in the parish hall next door after the service.

Are the facilities ADA accessible?

The entrance on the Staples Mill Road side of the building is fully accessible. There is an accessible restroom in the Parish Hall. We don’t do much kneeling at Holy Comforter. We stand to sing and for other parts of the service, always inviting those who find that a challenge to remain seated.

What is your music tradition?

People at Holy Comforter love to sing! We sing from a wide variety of styles, including spirituals, country, jazz, chants, new hymns, and traditional hymns.

Where do I park?

We have back-in parking spaces on Staples Mill Road and on-street parallel parking on Monument and Monumental Avenues.
